From Commissioning to Plant Manager: A Career Journey at Evero

7 January 2026

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your journey at Evero and what led you to your current role as Plant Manager of Ince Bio Power.

I joined Evero back in November 2017, during the commissioning phase of Ince. During that time, I had the chance to step into the Operations Manager role, which I held for about three years before moving into my current position as Plant Manager, where I’ve been for the past three years.

In the early days of the plant being online, while we were still working through teething challenges, the plant would run for a week and then be offline for two. Fast forward to today, and we’ve broken the UK operational record for a gasification asset, with over 120 days of continuous running.

It’s a huge achievement and real proof that gasification technology can deliver. I’m incredibly proud to have been part of that journey.

What were some of the key milestones or turning points that helped you progress?

I’ve always been passionate about showing that gasification can be done right and done well. I really feel driven to help the plant and the team reach their absolute best. When you’ve been part of something from the very beginning, you develop a real sense of responsibility and care, not just for the plant’s performance, but for the people you work with. We’re a diverse group, coming from all kinds of professional backgrounds, and working together to do something amazing for the environment is a bonus.

How did Evero support your professional growth along the way?

Having a mentor during my transition was hugely helpful and really prepared me for stepping into the Plant Manager role. On top of that, completing leadership training gave me extra tools and confidence to grow professionally and lead a team.

Were there any mentors, leaders, or colleagues who played a significant role in your development?

I’m lucky to have such a skilled and reliable team around me. Running a complex plant would be a lot harder without their expertise right there when I need it. I also have a great relationship with the previous plant manager, which made the transition much smoother and more supportive. It really helped me feel comfortable stepping into the role and encouraged me to stop and ask lots of questions along the way.

If you could describe Evero in three words, what would they be and why?

Dynamic: things are always moving and evolving. Fluid: the team on site works so well together and we really know how to adapt. Variety: anyone in this industry will tell you – no two days are the same!
